Bartimaeus Institutes are study opportunities in the beautiful coastal hills of the Ventura River watershed in southern California. Ranging from 3-5 days and held in the Ojai Valley, they are intensive explorations of scripture and social justice, facilitated by Ched Myers, Elaine Enns and friends. CEU and academic credit can be available by request.

The next Bartimaeus Institute will be the 2023 Kinsler Institute, Feb 20-23, 2023 to be held at Camp Forest Home on unceded Chumash Territory in the Ventura River Watershed, California.

BIO is a series of online, tailored classes and courses on key themes. Our first 'Introductory' course is comprised of four 'A-level' classes which can be undertaken individually. Classes include a mix of new content, recorded webinars, audio and video, and published articles, all arranged around thematic topics.

  • We conduct annual BIO Study Cohorts, in which small groups (max 10 participants) work through the five BIO classes and attend the Bartimaeus Institute preceded by a BIO colloquium.  Left: our inaugural BIO Study Cohort group.

  • There are too few venues where women can come together to talk about discipleship and life journeys. Elaine Enns, along with colleagues from Word and World, The Abundant Table and other collegial communities, leads women’s retreats focusing on stories of biblical women, personal journeys, ritual, conversation and prayer.

  • BCM offers opportunities to learn on-site at Casa Anna Schulz in Oak View with:
