Our faith tradition arose out of traumatic experiences of captivity, exile and occupation. This lens will help guide our exploration of key texts from Luke’s gospel, particularly stories about the women who raised, followed and found liberation in Jesus. We will look at basic trauma theory, recognizing patterns of transmission and post-traumatic stress, their impact in our families and communities, and how to work towards personal and political healing.
Confirmed speakers: L-R: Catherine Meeks; Pamela Brubaker; Grecia Reyes; Lindsay & Tommy Airey; Bill Richards; Jennifer Henry.
Our 2016 Institute will consist of three components each full day :
1) Morning classes: Five different mini-courses delve deeper into the week’s theme:
i. Exploring Trauma
(Elaine Enns & Catherine Meeks)
ii. Women and Justice (Pamela Brubaker, Jennifer Henry & Grecia Reyes)
iii. Reading and Preaching Luke in Year C (Ched Myers)
iv. Introduction to New Testament Greek (William Richards; 15 hr. intensive)
